Prioritising Comfort

Covid finally caught up with me, and I’ve spent the past week stuck at home with my new pal Omricon for company. I don’t want to waffle on about Covid too much, but we’re fine following a few days of pretty rubbish flu-like symptoms. My step count is abysmal and I don’t think I’ve ever spent this long cooped up indoors without even being able to walk the dog, but at least we didn’t get too poorly. To be honest, the only good thing about the past week is that I haven’t had to get dressed and have been moping around the house in my favourite loungewear.

I am a big loungewear convert following the past two years of lockdowns and home working. Now I officially work from home full time, I’ve gone from getting ready every morning like I’m still leaving the house to filling my wardrobe with cosy, comfy loungewear that I actually want to wear every day. Pre-pandemic, I literally owned one pair of leggings. Now I have an arsenal of leggings, joggers and linen lounge pants at my disposal. Elasticated waistbands are my new best friend.

One brand that I can thank for my newfound love of loungewear is The Simple Folk. I was lucky enough to be welcomed into their family this year, and they have thoughtfully sent me a selection of easy-to-wear styles from their womenswear collection, including my beloved ribbed top and leggings, a chunky cardigan and the linen pajama top and bottoms I’m wearing in these images.

Comfort isn’t something I only prioritise at home. This loungewear set is already proving to be the most versatile thing in my wardrobe. I’ve worn the shirt out and about, to the pub and out Christmas shopping paired with both jeans and black leggings. The trousers look stylish worn with a cropped jumper, and will get a lot of wear next summer with my linen tops. I like my clothes to be loose, soft and comfortable - I don’t have time for garments that feel restrictive. I look back at the clothes I wore in my younger years and marvel that I used to teeter around in heels that pinched my feet while wearing skirts and jeans that required me to constantly suck in my stomach. Never again.

I’ll be wearing these linen trousers and matching shirt on Christmas morning, then dressing up for dinner by replacing the trousers with my favourite jeans. Thank you The Simple Folk for helping me to place a new emphasis on comfort in my wardrobe!
